Baku: In January-March of this year, 9,028.8 thousand tons of oil were transported via oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, marking a 6.6% decrease in annual comparison, the State Statistical Committee told APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 76.2% of the transportation was carried out via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil export pipeline. During the reporting period, 6,880.8 thousand tons of oil were transported through this pipeline, which represents a 5.3% decrease year-on-year.
During the same period, 83.2% or 5,727.4 thousand tons of the oil transported via the BTC pipeline consisted of oil produced in Azerbaijan, showing a 2.4% decrease. Meanwhile, 16.8% or 1,153.4 thousand tons consisted of oil originating from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, reflecting a 17.6% decrease.
Recall that last year, 38,752.1 thousand tons of oil were transported via oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which was a 2.5% decrease year-on-year. Of that, 76% of the transportation was conducted via the BTC oil export pipeline, with 29,470.9 thousand tons of oil transported through this pipeline, indicating a 2.4% decrease in annual comparison.
