Istanbul: The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has announced that 1,024 professional players have been referred to the Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK) for participating in illegal betting activities. This development has placed several notable players under scrutiny, including Galatasaray’s Eren Elmali and Metehan Baltaci, Besiktas’s Necip Uysal and Ersin Destanoglu, and Trabzonspor’s Boran Baskan and Salih Malko§oglu.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the TFF’s Legal Committee issued a statement indicating that these players were referred under Article 57 of the Football Disciplinary Regulations as of November 10, 2025. The statement mentioned that disciplinary actions would be implemented pending the results of further investigations.

To address the potential impact on team rosters, the TFF has initiated discussions with FIFA to establish a temporary 15-day domestic transfer and registration window, supplementing the regular 2025-26 winter transfer period. This move aims to assist clubs in managing any shortfalls resulting from the probe.

Furthermore, the federation decided to postpone fixtures for the TFF 2nd and 3rd Leagues by two weeks. Meanwhile, the schedules for the Sper Lig and 1st League will proceed as initially planned. The TFF has also indicated that the cases of 47 players who placed a single bet will be re-evaluated once additional evidence is obtained from relevant institutions. Official communications with state authorities are ongoing, and the scope of the investigation may widen based on the responses received.
