Ramallah: Palestinian Minister of Local Government Sami Hijjawi highlighted the critical importance of housing in the reconstruction process in Palestine following extensive destruction. Speaking at the event titled 'Housing at the Center of Post-Crisis Recovery and Reconstruction' during WUF13, Hijjawi emphasized that one of the main objectives is to facilitate the safe return of displaced people to their homes.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Hijjawi pointed out that the conflict has led to the complete destruction or serious damage of hundreds of thousands of homes. He noted that essential infrastructure, including water, energy, education, and healthcare, has also suffered severe damage. Hijjawi stressed that the reconstruction efforts are not solely focused on rebuilding physical structures but also on ensuring socio-economic stability and safe living conditions for the population.
Hijjawi explained that reconstruction planning in Palestine is being conducted in stages, with the primary aim of ensuring the safe return of internally displaced individuals to their original residences.
