Baku: "Turkmenistan proposes reviving the Silk Road, of which the Middle Corridor will also be a part," said Nokerguly Ataguliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, during his speech at the meeting of prime ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member countries in Baku, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the revival of the ancient Silk Road in a new format, integrated with modern transport and logistics infrastructure, will create additional economic opportunities for the countries of the region. Ataguliyev stressed that existing corridors should be used more efficiently to expand transit and logistics capabilities in the region, with particular emphasis on the importance of the Middle Corridor.
Ataguliyev highlighted the necessity for coordination of routes, stating that the alignment of the Caspian-Black Sea route, the Central Asia-Middle East direction, and the East-West transport corridor will increase trade turnover and expand access to new markets.
The speech further indicated Turkmenistan's readiness to actively participate in joint projects in transport and logistics, and its support for deepening regional cooperation in this direction. By fully utilizing Turkmenistan's transit potential, it is possible to increase cargo volumes and make routes more efficient.
