Population’s Fuel Expenses Increase by More Than 4% This Year

Baku: In January-August of this year, consumers in Azerbaijan spent AZN 2,701.1 million on motor gasoline and diesel fuel alone in the retail trade network, the State Statistical Committee said, APA-Economics reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the figure recorded during the reporting period exceeded the corresponding figure for 2025 by 4.3%. This rise in expenses reflects a broader trend of increasing costs associated with fuel consumption in the country.

It should be noted that oil in Azerbaijan is refined at the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, which was founded in 1953. The refinery fully meets the country's demand for petroleum products. Reconstruction and modernization work is currently underway at the refinery, which is expected to enhance its capacity and efficiency in the future.
