Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has emphasized the necessity for each plot of cultivable land to possess a unique 'passport' to optimize agricultural productivity and strategic export planning. During a meeting focused on agricultural issues, Aliyev highlighted the need for precise land analysis to determine the most suitable crops for different areas, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Aliyev stressed the importance of zoning and the variability of soil quality even within individual districts. He pointed out that a single-crop recommendation for an entire district would be incorrect due to these variations. The President advocated for the integration of modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence and satellite capabilities, alongside field research, to develop a comprehensive digital analysis for each plot of land. This approach aims to guide farmers on which crops would yield the highest profitability and inform the country's broader agricultural development and export strategy.
Aliyev also addressed the significance of aligning exports with market demand, acknowledging the shift in many countries towards self-sufficiency in food production. He proposed that subsidies should be adaptable, potentially reviewed annually to reflect district-specific and product-specific needs. The President called for a flexible subsidy mechanism, noting that a static, decade-long subsidy is impractical. He urged relevant institutions to consider these factors to enhance agricultural efficiency and export potential.
