Washington: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace held in Washington, as reported by APA. The meeting took place on February 19 and was organized at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the event began with a family photo, followed by a speech from President Trump. During his address, Trump highlighted his administration's success in settling eight wars and achieving peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, two significant nations in the region. He expressed gratitude towards President Aliyev and his Armenian counterpart for their roles in establishing peace. Trump recounted the process leading to the peace agreement, noting that after decades of conflict, the two leaders managed to come to an understanding within a short period.
The meeting also featured speeches from representatives of other participating countries, emphasizing the importance of the newly established peace. The session concluded with the signing of a resolution by the Board of Peace, which outlined principles of financial integrity and transparency.
