BAKU — In a message delivered to the attendees of the 29th Annual Conference and General Assembly of the International Association of Prosecutors, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed high regard for Azerbaijan’s enduring relationship with the organization, emphasizing the mutual commitment to enhance their collaboration.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted the significant reforms undertaken by Azerbaijan's prosecutorial bodies to ensure the rule of law and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms. He underscored the country’s contributions to international efforts in combating a spectrum of transnational crimes, including terrorism, trafficking, and cybercrime.
The President pointed out the evolving nature of cross-border crime, particularly the challenges posed by cybercrime, the misuse of social media, and artificial intelligence in criminal activities. These developments, he noted, necessitate robust and adaptive prosecutorial responses.
Additionally, President Aliyev expressed concern over the global rise in ethnic and religious discrimination, advocating for concerted international efforts to address these issues. He expressed confidence that the conference, themed 'Role of the Prosecutor in Upholding the Rule of Law,' would further the shared goals of strengthening legal frameworks and enhancing cooperative measures among international legal entities.
