President Aliyev Emphasizes Preservation of Baku’s Historical Architecture Amid Transport Development

Baku: "We cannot change the historical architectural appearance of Baku. The management of the road transport system and prioritizing micro-mobility, i.e., public transport, may be a way out. Our Ministry of Digital Development and Transport is working actively in this direction, attracting international experts," President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated during an interview with local television channels.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the president highlighted that the map for Baku's new road infrastructure has been approved, with plans for 10 new metro stations and two additional depots. Optimization projects are currently being implemented at existing metro stations. President Aliyev remarked on the construction of seven metro stations over the past two decades, questioning the current situation had these not been built. He noted ongoing efforts towards micro-mobility, which includes providing more space for pedestrians and designating certain streets exclusively for pedestrian use. Additionally, the creation of new public spaces in Baku has become a common practice, with visible changes expected in the coming months.
