Shusha: President Ilham Aliyev addressed a question regarding the AZAL plane crash during his meeting with participants of the Shusha Global Media Forum. The incident, which occurred several months ago, has been a point of contention between Azerbaijan and Russia.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the president expressed disappointment over the lack of response from Russian officials despite the passage of seven months since the crash. “Unfortunately, we didn’t get any answer from Russian officials about that, though seven months have passed,” Aliyev stated. He further emphasized that Azerbaijan is aware of the circumstances surrounding the incident and possesses evidence to support their claims. The president stressed the necessity for Russia to acknowledge the accident as an act of guilt, to hold those responsible accountable, and to provide compensation to the families of the victims, the injured, and AZAL for the loss of the aircraft.
President Aliyev’s remarks highlight the ongoing diplomatic tensions between Azerbaijan and Russia following the crash. His call for accountability and compensation underscores the significance of the issue for Azerbaijan and its insistence on justice for the victims and their families.
