Baku: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has addressed the participants of the Fifth Meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev extended a warm welcome to the attendees at the event held in Baku, marking the first time this prestigious gathering has been hosted in Azerbaijan. In his address, he emphasized the strong bonds of ethnic roots, language, and culture that unite the member states, highlighting the Organization of Turkic States as a testament to their unity and cooperation.

Aliyev spoke about the recent period of development within the Turkic world, underscoring the peace and stability within the member countries. He referenced Azerbaijan's Garabagh Victory, which established a new geopolitical reality in the region and facilitated the development of the Zangezur Corridor, a strategic economic and logistical link among the countries. He expressed gratitude to member states for their support in the reconstruction of liberated territories.

The president also highlighted Azerbaijan's efforts to strengthen unity and cooperation within the OTS during its chairmanship, aiming for sustainable development and security. He mentioned the Declaration from last year's Gabala Summit, which outlines collaboration in political, economic, energy, humanitarian, military, and security spheres.

Aliyev stressed the importance of projects like the Middle Corridor, enhancing transport and logistics between Europe and Asia. He also noted the Turkic World Week, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, as a significant event under Azerbaijan's chairmanship.

In addressing modern global challenges, Aliyev called for a unified stance on issues like cyber threats, terrorism, and organized crime. He emphasized the strategic nature of cooperation among the security councils of the Turkic states, advocating for a common security framework to tackle transboundary threats effectively.

He expressed confidence that the discussions and proposals during the meeting would contribute to a secure future for the Turkic world, enhancing its resilience against global threats. Aliyev concluded by wishing success to the meeting and its participants.
