Baku: The Zangezur Corridor project is being actively implemented in Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev announced at the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as reported by APA's special correspondent.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted that the main section of the Zangezur Corridor within the Republic of Azerbaijan is set to be completed next year. The project has also commenced in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The President emphasized that the Nakhchivan railway is an integral part of Azerbaijan Railways, and plans are underway to establish an international consortium for companies and countries interested in investing and participating in the project.

President Aliyev mentioned that work related to the corridor is also progressing in Armenia, with updates regularly provided by American partners. Construction in Armenia is anticipated to begin at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. The railway in Armenia spans 42 kilometers, compared to 194 kilometers in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, prompting Azerbaijan to initiate and commit to completing the project regardless of developments in Armenia.

He also noted the interest from various companies in the project and the opportunity for participation in the planned consortium, highlighting the potential for investment and guaranteed transportation volumes along the route.
