Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran led by Minister of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics Aziz Nasirzadeh on February 6, APA reports. The meeting highlighted Azerbaijan's concerns over the ongoing regional tensions and reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace in the South Caucasus.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized that despite ongoing wars and conflicts around the world, Azerbaijan has successfully initiated peace in the South Caucasus region. He expressed confidence that this achievement holds significant importance for Iran, given its geographical proximity to both Azerbaijan and Armenia.
President Aliyev stated, "We want peace throughout the world, no bloodshed, no wars," highlighting Azerbaijan's role as a model for transitioning from conflict to peace. He also mentioned a recent phone conversation with the Iranian President, where he reiterated Azerbaijan's readiness to support efforts aimed at de-escalating regional tensions.
