Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev recently welcomed Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, in a meeting that emphasized the ongoing collaboration between Azerbaijan and the council.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the dialogue between President Aliyev and Secretary-General Abdelsalam reflected on their past interactions and celebrated the strong partnership that has developed. Both parties acknowledged Azerbaijan's significant contribution to promoting Islamic solidarity on an international scale. The discussion also highlighted the importance of the 7th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States, which took place in Baku, along with the anticipated Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation set to occur in Azerbaijan next year.
The meeting also recognized the effective management of religious affairs in Azerbaijan. A notable moment was the presentation of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity certificate to President Aliyev, an honor he received earlier this year, by Mohamed Abdelsalam.
