Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation comprising heads of member institutions of the Arab Coordination Group. The meeting took place on June 18, as reported by APA. The delegation included key figures such as the Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, and representatives from the OPEC Fund for International Development, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, and other prominent financial institutions from the region.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the significance of the Arab Coordination Group's involvement in the upcoming 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group. He highlighted the active cooperation between Azerbaijan and the member institutions, noting ongoing projects and the importance of upcoming agreements. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, Chairman of the IsDB Group, expressed satisfaction with the visit and conveyed gratitude to President Aliyev for his support in expanding cooperation.
During the discussions, both parties acknowledged the potential for enhancing partnerships between Azerbaijan and the Arab Coordination Group. They emphasized Azerbaijan's favorable investment climate and its potential to facilitate joint projects. Following the discussions, a loan agreement for constructing the Sumgayit New Wastewater Treatment Facility was signed, and a Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged regarding water supply and sewerage systems in the Absheron Peninsula.
President Aliyev presented the 'Dostlug' (Friendship) Order to Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, recognizing his contributions to strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and the Islamic Development Bank. Al Jasser expressed his gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him by the Presidential Decree.
