According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the President's message highlighted Azerbaijan's commitment to environmental protection and its increasing role on the global stage in raising awareness about environmental issues. Hosting the World Environment Day celebrations for the first time in the region is a significant milestone that underscores Azerbaijan's contribution to international efforts in protecting the planet.
In his address, President Aliyev emphasized the shared responsibility of the international community in tackling environmental challenges. He outlined the severe consequences of climate change, resource depletion, biodiversity loss, and pollution, which pose threats not only to ecosystems but also to public health, sustainable development, and the prosperity of nations. The President stressed that the well-being of future generations hinges on the actions taken today to address these issues.
The President detailed Azerbaijan's initiatives to combat environmental challenges, noting the country's efforts in enhancing green spaces, improving water resource management, and expanding protected nature areas. The Hyrcanian forests, a significant natural site in Azerbaijan, has been recognized on the UNESCO World Heritage List, highlighting the country's dedication to preserving its unique biodiversity.
