He served as editor-in-chief of the 'Literature and Art' newspaper from 1978 to 1991. He later held the position of First Deputy Minister of Press and Information of Azerbaijan and was the Acting Minister until 2001, after which he chaired the Department of Humanities at the National Aviation Academy until his passing.

Nariman Hasanzada was celebrated for his contributions to Azerbaijani literature.
