Prosecutor’s Office Files Appeal Against Verdict on Ukrainian Millionaire and Former Deputy Minister

Baku: An appeal and protest have been lodged against the verdict concerning Ukrainian millionaire Oleg Krapivin, known in criminal circles as ‘Oleg Bakinsky,’ and Konstantin Kucher, who were detained in Azerbaijan on charges of hooliganism, APA reports. The appeal has been directed to Judge Murad Mammadov of the Baku Court of Appeal, with the preliminary hearing slated for September 21.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Oleg Krapivin was previously sentenced by the Baku Court on Grave Crimes to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment. However, under Article 70 of the Criminal Code, his sentence was deemed conditional with a 6-month probation period. In contrast, Konstantin Kucher was acquitted under Article 178.4 of the Criminal Code but was handed a definitive sentence of 2 years and 6 months for charges under Article 221.3.

The state prosecutor, in his remarks, sought a 14-year imprisonment term for Konstantin Kucher and a 3-year term for Oleg Krapivin. Notably, “Oleg Bakinsky” was detained in Baku last year for hooliganism against a Russian citizen. He faced charges under Articles 127.2.3 and 221.3 of the Criminal Code, with his initial preventive arrest measure later modified to house arrest during the trial.

Konstantin Kucher, who held the position of Deputy Minister of Defense Industry of Ukraine for Aviation Affairs from 2010 to 2011, was found guilty in the same criminal case. He faced charges under Articles 178.4 and 221.3 of the Criminal Code. The victims involved in the case include “Aviazapchast” OJSC, “Promyshlennye Postavki Kazakhstan” LLC, and Zakharenkov Valery Nikolayevich.
