Moscow: Russian energy giant PJSC Inter RAO is actively seeking collaborations with Azerbaijan and Georgia for the import of 600 MW of electricity to bolster its grid during emergency situations, according to a statement by a company official.

According to Trend News Agency, Alexandra Panina, a member of Inter RAO’s management board, discussed the initiative during a press briefing. Panina outlined that the company has reached out to the energy sectors of both Azerbaijan and Georgia with a proposal to provide 300 MW of electricity each during critical operational scenarios. “We have initiated a collaborative engagement with the neighboring energy ecosystems of Azerbaijan and Georgia to leverage their capabilities for electricity supply during critical operational scenarios,” Panina stated.

She further emphasized the importance of these arrangements in enhancing the resilience of Russia’s energy system against potential crises. “In emergency situations, we would request these countries to be prepared to supp
ly us with 300 MW each,” she explained. However, Panina also noted that responses from the two countries are still pending. “Nevertheless, we have not yet obtained a response from Georgia and Azerbaijan,” she added.
