Tehran: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced a proposal for Azerbaijan and Armenia to utilize the "3+3" cooperation platform to conclude their peace treaty negotiations. This suggestion was made during a recent meeting held in Istanbul under the "3+3" framework involving countries from the South Caucasus region. According to Trend News Agency, Lavrov expressed the collective encouragement from Russia, Trkiye, and Iran for Baku and Yerevan to finalize their peace treaty using this platform. 'We, along with Trkiye and Iran, have encouraged our colleagues from Azerbaijan and Armenia to use the "3+3" platform to complete their work on the peace treaty," Lavrov stated. The meeting in Istanbul, which saw the participation of foreign ministers from Azerbaijan, Russia, Trkiye, Armenia, and Iran, also touched upon the Armenian-Turkish normalization process. Lavrov noted that there are still some unresolved issues and that currently, no further meetings are scheduled as the Armenian side has decided t o take a pause. 'They believe it is crucial to first engage directly with the Turks to determine the necessary steps,' he added. The "3+3" platform includes Russia, Trkiye, Iran, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, aiming to foster dialogue and cooperation in the South Caucasus region, addressing both regional issues and bilateral conflicts.
