Samad Seyidov Highlights Strong Azerbaijan-UK Economic Relations

Baku: Azerbaijan’s economic relations with the United Kingdom have consistently been at a high level since the nation’s early days of independence. Samad Seyidov, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Affairs, emphasized this point during the opening ceremony of the First Azerbaijan-UK Policy Dialogue. He expressed optimism that this cooperation would extend beyond economics to encompass culture, education, and politics.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Seyidov noted a fundamental shift in attitudes toward Azerbaijan and the broader region. He highlighted the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva in high-level debates at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The numerous meetings held by the Azerbaijani head of state with presidents, prime ministers, and leading global financial institutions underscore a changing perception of Azerbaijan. This indicates a growing interest in the country and signifies the emergence of a new reality in the region. Seyidov concluded by stating that Azerbaijan is now actively shaping the region’s new future.
