Baku: During the first half of 2026, the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) achieved a daily average export throughput of 63.7 million cubic metres of gas per day. This significant performance was reported by bp Azerbaijan to AZERTAC.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the SCP's operational expenditures during this period amounted to approximately $41 million, with an additional $19 million allocated for capital expenditures. Since its inception in late 2006, the SCP has been a crucial conduit for transporting Shah Deniz gas across Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Trkiye. The pipeline's expanded section began commercial deliveries to Trkiye in June 2018 and extended its reach to Europe by December 2020.

A notable operational change took place on July 1, 2026, when the operatorship of the BTC pipeline, along with the associated activities for both the BTC and SCP systems, was transferred from BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Limited to SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC. This entity is a wholly owned subsidiary of SOCAR, indicating a strategic shift in management.

The shareholders of the South Caucasus Pipeline Company (SCPC) include bp with a 29.99% stake, followed by SGC at 21.02%, LUKOIL at 19.99%, TPAO at 19.00%, and NICO holding 10.00%. This diverse ownership reflects the international collaboration underpinning this vital energy infrastructure.
