Secretary General Announces Expansion of Organization of Turkic States Activities

Baku: "Within the framework of the OTS, an informal summit of leaders will be held in Turkistan on May 15, as well as meetings of security council secretaries and defense industry ministers," said Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev at the meeting of prime ministers of the OTS member states held in Baku, APA reports. He noted that these meetings will further strengthen coordination in political views.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the OTS Secretary General also highlighted the importance of the OTS+ format. He stated that in recent years, the Organization of Turkic States has expanded the scope of its activities. The organization is now applying cooperation mechanisms in 58 different areas. They are focusing on the proper implementation of important decisions adopted by heads of state at summit meetings. The platform provides an opportunity to review the progress achieved and accelerate the process amidst emerging instability in many places.

The Secretary General mentioned that OTS member states have begun negotiations on a significant agreement in the field of investments. This initiative was put forward by Kazakhstan. Despite some member states belonging to the Eurasian space, integration within the Turkic states remains a focus. Kazakhstan's support is relied upon to reach a consensus. Additionally, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Trkiye are encouraged to complete the ratification of the partnership agreement in the digital economy. Once this agreement enters into force, digital trust in the region is expected to increase, alongside significant expansion in e-commerce.
