Senior inspector of Traffic Safety Department detained for extortion

A senior inspector of the Main Traffic Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic was detained. Press center of the State Committee for National Security reported.

The senior inspector of the Department of Registration and Licensing of the Main Traffic Safety Department, senior lieutenant of police K.A.K. on August 9 extorted money from a Russian citizen during a practical driving lesson with an instructor of a private driving school.

According to the security services, the inspector received 10,000 soms from the woman through groundless accusations of traffic violations, as well as threats of deprivation of opportunity and obstruction in obtaining a driver’s license.

A criminal case was initiated under Article 343 «Extortion» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The senior inspector was detained while returning the previously received 10,000 soms and taken to a temporary detention center.

Investigative and operational activities within the criminal case aimed at identifying similar facts and other persons involved continue.
