Shousha World Media Forum Emphasizes Media Literacy as Key to Information Security

Shousha: The third edition of the Shousha World Media Forum concluded with a series of discussion sessions that addressed pressing issues in the media landscape. Participants underscored the critical need for media literacy to empower journalists and media professionals to adapt to the rapid technological advancements.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the forum highlighted the role of media sustainability, emphasizing social communication, respect for diverse ideas, and the importance of providing opportunities for the younger generation. The first session, titled “Media Literacy as a Guarantee of Information Security,” brought together prominent figures such as Professor Jafar Hasnain from TRT World, Professor Zephora Moban from the African Union Development Agency, Professor Wang Delu from China Media Group, and Professor Shafaq Mihir from Azertag University.

Speakers delved into the influence of digital culture in curbing the spread of false and misleading information. They discussed how digital tools can enhance the resilience of individuals and communities against media disinformation. Additionally, the sessions explored the impact of artificial intelligence and social media platforms on information dissemination, the significance of educational campaigns, and the necessity for collaboration between media institutions and government entities.

The forum, which commenced on July 20, attracted media professionals, journalists, and experts from 52 countries. The event saw participation from over 30 news agencies, seven international organizations, and nearly 7 media institutions, alongside representatives from Azerbaijani media outlets.
