SOCAR and Baker Hughes exchanged views on cooperation

SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev met with a delegation led by Rami Gasem, President and CEO of Digital Solutions, Baker Hughes, one of the world’s leaders in technological services in the oil and gas industry.

The company told AZERTAC that the parties discussed the work done in the past in 2019, and exchanged views on the next steps to be taken in accordance with the company’s Corporate Strategy until 2035 to support the digital transformation in SOCAR. The meeting also touched upon the prospects of partnership in asset management solutions as a key element of SOCAR’s existing investment strategy, noting that the two companies have great potential for cooperation in such areas as digital transformation, zero emissions and carbon neutrality.

A brief presentation by Baker Hughes provided detailed information on the company’s services to customers in the transition to the new energy era. It was noted that the application of high-efficiency technologies offered by Baker Hughes creates favorable conditions for reducing waste during energy operations, cleaner, safer and more efficient operations in oil and gas fields. At the same time, in the era of Industry 4.0 and global decarbonization, carbon emissions are reduced to zero through the comprehensive application of the required technological solutions, which is a significant contribution to environmental protection.

It should be noted that Baker Hughes started operating in Azerbaijan in 1990. Along with SOCAR, the company cooperates with BP, TOTAL, Equinor, as well as SOCAR’s Caspian Drilling Company. In Azerbaijan, the company uses 4 types of products – oil services, oil equipment, turbochargers and process solutions, as well as digital solutions.

Baker Hughes, which currently operates a complex of equipment, services and digital solutions in the oil and gas sector, helps its customers transport hydrocarbons in a more efficient, productive and safe way, with more care for the environment.
