Sumgayit Hosts Informative Session on World Urban Forum 13

Sumgayit: Sumgayit State University recently hosted an enlightening information session dedicated to the upcoming thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13). The event aimed to engage academic staff and students, fostering greater public awareness of the global urban development conference.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the session featured Farman Kazimov, Head of the Socio-Political and Humanitarian Affairs Sector at the Sumgayit City Executive Authority, who spoke about the city's rich 77-year history and its ongoing development. Attendees received insights into significant urban projects in Sumgayit over the past decade, underscoring the importance of WUF13 in the city's growth narrative.

Ramiz Idrisoghlu, a representative of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, highlighted the nation's urban achievements, particularly in the liberated regions. He emphasized the comprehensive reconstruction and development efforts in the Garabagh and East Zangezur economic zones, where new residential areas are being constructed to modern standards. Idrisoghlu noted the approval of master plans for eight cities, along with urban planning frameworks for 101 villages and settlements.

Emin Huseynzade, Communications Manager at the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company, presented details about WUF13, inviting university staff and students to participate. The WUF13 Festival progressed into the evening with a public program at Park Goyarchin.
