Swedish and Norwegian Media Outlets Highlight Iran’s Drone Attack on Azerbaijan

Baku: Swedish and Norwegian media outlets have reported on Iran's recent drone attack on Azerbaijan, which has prompted a strong reaction from the Azerbaijani authorities. The Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter published an article detailing the Azerbaijani government's intention to respond to the drone strikes on its territory.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Ilham Aliyev has stated that the country's Armed Forces have been brought to full mobilization readiness. This move underscores the seriousness with which Azerbaijan views the incident, and the nation is prepared to undertake any necessary operations.

The Swedish article further elaborates that the incident is considered an attack on Azerbaijan in the capital, Baku, prompting an urgent demand for an explanation from Iran. In response, the Iranian ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The article reports that four people were injured due to the incident, with one drone landing near a school and another hitting the region's largest airport. Azerbaijan has asserted its right to take suitable response measures.

In a similar vein, the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten has reported on Azerbaijan's diplomatic response, highlighting that the Iranian ambassador was summoned following the drone incident in Nakhchivan. The publication notes the injury of civilians and damage to an airport building as a result of the attack. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has emphasized that the incident is viewed as an attack, and the country reserves the right to respond appropriately.

The ministry further stated, "This attack against the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan constitutes a violation of the norms and principles of international law and serves to increase tensions in the region."
