This season, the production of wet cocoons in Balakan region is projected to increase by about 15 tons compared to last year and reach 46 tons. It is planned to distribute 1,150 boxes of silkworms incubated at the Gakh Pedigree Silkworm Station to cocoon growers.
Shahin Rahimli, head of the crop sector of the Balakan State Agrarian Development Center, told AZERTAC that the process of distributing silkworms to the region’s coppersmiths has begun. At the initial stage, 815 boxes or 15 kilograms 485 grams of silkworms were distributed to 272 coppersmiths. The process of distributing silkworms to coppersmiths will be completed in the coming days.
Lets` remind that, 31.2 tons of wet cocoons were produced in the region last season.
