ITSASONDO: Two individuals suspected of being affiliated with the terrorist organization ISIS were apprehended in northern Spain during a coordinated operation by Spanish police and the Moroccan General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the suspects were taken into custody in the cities of Itsasondo, located in Gipuzkoa, and Avilés, situated in Asturias. The charges against them include involvement in recruitment activities, spreading terrorist propaganda, and inciting acts of violence and terrorism.
Authorities disclosed that the suspects had been under close observation since the start of the year due to their activities on social media platforms. They were found to be disseminating messages that supported ISIS and promoted violence, raising concerns that led to their arrest.
The Spanish National Police stated that the operation was directed by the Central Court of Instruction and coordinated with the General Prosecutor’s Office of the National C
ourt. The successful outcome was achieved with substantial assistance from the Moroccan General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance, a partnership that has resulted in the capture of multiple terrorists in past operations.
