BELGRADE: Serbia has no intention of joining NATO or supplying weapons to Ukraine, according to statements made by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin. Vulin emphasized Serbia’s commitment to military neutrality and its ongoing friendship with Russia during an interview with Russia’s Zvezda TV channel, as reported by APA citing TASS.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Vulin reiterated that Serbia, under the leadership of President Aleksandar Vucic, will refrain from imposing any sanctions on Russia or engaging in actions that could exacerbate Russia’s situation. Vulin stated, “Serbia, led by Vucic, will not introduce any sanctions on Russia. Nor will it sell weapons, ammunition, and other things like that to Ukraine. It will do nothing to worsen Russia’s situation. Serbia is Russia’s friend. We continue to maintain military neutrality. We will not join NATO.”
Vulin further noted that Belgrade is resistant to what he described as “anti-Russian hysteria.” He indicated that Serbia would not prohi
bit the Russian language or discontinue teaching Russian history in its schools. “Without the victories that Russia achieved in the past centuries, Serbia would not have existed. If Russia loses this global conflict, Serbia will face hard times. We share a common past and we see each other in the future,” Vulin explained.
The deputy prime minister’s comments underscore Serbia’s position amid ongoing global tensions and efforts by Western countries to isolate Russia politically and economically. Serbia’s stance reflects its historical ties and reliance on Russia as a strategic partner.
