Kyiv: Ukraine is set to commence mass production of its successful long-range cruise missile, Flamingo, starting next year, as announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a recent meeting with journalists. The announcement marks a significant step forward in Ukraine’s missile program, with the Flamingo missile already having undergone successful testing.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Zelenskyy emphasized the missile’s capabilities, noting its impressive range of 3,000 kilometers. He highlighted the importance of the Flamingo missile as the most successful in Ukraine’s arsenal to date. However, Zelenskyy remained cautious about disclosing further details, citing the need to wait until the missiles can be produced and utilized in substantial numbers.
The Ukrainian president also provided insight into the production timeline, stating that by December, a more substantial stock of Flamingo missiles will be available. He projected that mass production should commence by the end of December or early next year, contingent upon successful testing outcomes and securing necessary program funding.
