UN-Hosted Conference Highlights Azerbaijan’s ASAN Khidmet Model

Azerbaijan: Azerbaijan's ASAN Khidmet model has been presented at the United Nations (UN) Conference on Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16), held at the UN Headquarters in New York.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event was organized under the theme 'Driving Transformation and Coordinated Action for Sustainable Development.' It was a collaborative effort by the Permanent Mission of Italy to the UN, the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO).

Ulvi Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, addressed the conference. He elaborated on the reforms implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, focusing on promoting citizen-oriented public administration. Mehdiyev highlighted the achievements in delivering accessible and inclusive public services and emphasized the role of the ASAN Khidmet model in advancing SDG 16.

The ASAN Khidmet model is noted for its contribution to ensuring transparency and accountability in public service delivery. It enhances citizen satisfaction and institutional efficiency while supporting the development of strong institutions and an inclusive society.

During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation conducted bilateral meetings with Italy's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Kenya's Minister of Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes. These meetings reviewed the ASAN Khidmet model and explored prospects for future cooperation. Tofig Musayev, Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the UN, was also present at the meetings.
