‘Demining is the most important factor for both peace and development,’ said the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Kanako Mabuchi during the International Baku Forum on “Healthy environment and mine-free life to achieve sustainable development goals”, APA reports.
She said that the UN works together with Azerbaijan in this field and they has been cooperating with Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) since 1997: ‘This includes the provision of technical equipment, sharing experiences, organizing preparation and training in the direction of mine clearance. These are important factors for the safe return of people to their places of residence. However, there is still much work to do. We will continue to support ANAMA in this matter’.
