Baku: The United States President is paying attention to Azerbaijan, and this is as beneficial for you as it is for us, John E. Herbst, senior director of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, told journalists, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Herbst highlighted the importance of the U.S. involvement in the Trump Corridor, which he believes plays a crucial role in promoting peace in the South Caucasus. The corridor is designed to boost trade and investment for Azerbaijan, Armenia, Trkiye, and Central Asia as part of the Middle Corridor initiative connecting Central Asia to European markets. Herbst emphasized that this initiative marks a significant contribution by the Trump administration to relations not only with Azerbaijan but also with Armenia and Trkiye.
Herbst further elaborated on the U.S.’s efforts in enhancing Azerbaijan’s oil production capabilities. He pointed out that the U.S. led the multi-pipeline policy, ensuring Azerbaijani oil reaches global markets independently of Russian influence. This strategy has been vital for Azerbaijan’s prosperity for over three decades and is expected to continue its positive impact.
He reiterated the significance of Azerbaijan being in the U.S. President’s focus, expressing optimism about the constructive attention being given by Washington to the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan, and Central Asia.
