Baku: In January-May of this year, 15,427.4 thousand tons of oil were transported via oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is 3.4% less in an annual comparison, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 75.5% of the transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline (BTC), and 11,646.1 thousand tons of oil were transported via this pipeline during the reporting period, marking a 2.84% decrease compared to the previous year.
During the reporting period, 83% or 9,711.4 thousand tons of the oil transported through the BTC pipeline was oil produced in Azerbaijan, showing a decrease of 0.4%. Additionally, 16.6% or 1,934.7 thousand tons of the transported oil was imported from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, which experienced a 13.5% decline.
Last year, 38,752.1 thousand tons of oil were transported via oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, representing a 2.5% decrease in an annual comparison. Of this, 76% of the transportation was conducted through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline (BTC), with 29,470.9 thousand tons of oil transported through this pipeline during the reporting period, reflecting a 2.4% decrease compared to the previous year.
