Wave of Disinformation Targets Turkic States Amid Growing Global Influence

Ankara: Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency, emphasized the increasing challenge of disinformation targeting Turkic states as they become more influential on the global stage. Speaking at the Turkic States Forum on Combating Disinformation in Ankara, Ismayilov highlighted the strategic importance of developing sustainable models to combat fake news and disinformation, which have significantly affected public perception.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ismayilov pointed out that disinformation tactics have evolved from relying solely on traditional media and political messaging to more sophisticated methods. Turkic states, in particular, are vulnerable to these systematic information threats. He noted that Azerbaijan, as its international reputation grows, faces heightened challenges from disinformation campaigns, especially during major international events. These campaigns are designed to create confusion and instability, leveraging fabricated narratives to damage the country’s global reputation.
