Baku: Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev underscored Africa's growing influence on the world stage during an international conference celebrating Africa Day in Baku. He remarked on the continent's dynamic potential, citing its youthful population, expanding economy, and abundant natural resources as key elements boosting its geopolitical significance.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Rafiyev highlighted the African Union's full membership in the G20 as an indication of Africa's rising global stature. He also noted the continent's ongoing efforts to secure two permanent seats on the UN Security Council, a move Azerbaijan fully supports.

Rafiyev further stated that Azerbaijan views Africa as more than a distant land, describing it as a continent of partners and friends with shared goals. He emphasized the importance of mutual respect, solidarity, and support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states in strengthening these ties.
