Baku: Hayrapetyan Kamo Eduardovich, an Armenian-origin resident of Karabakh, provided crucial testimony in the ongoing trial of Ruben Vardanyan, who faces charges of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, terrorism, financing terrorism, and other serious offenses under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the witness claimed that following Ruben Vardanyan’s arrival in Khankendi, mining operations along the borders of territories liberated by Azerbaijan during the 44-day war were financially supported by Vardanyan. Eduardovich highlighted that these mines were transported from Armenia to Karabakh via the Lachin corridor. He further noted that the Armenian residents of Khankendi were aware of the increased mining activities after Vardanyan’s arrival.
The witness also mentioned that informational posters regarding these mines were distributed in various locations, such as schools, around buildings, in forests, and near vacant areas. Such warnings were not present before the 44-day war, he noted. The trial is set to continue on March 18.
