Azerbaijan Allocates $1 Million for Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine

Baku: Azerbaijan has committed $1 million for humanitarian aid to Ukraine, with President Ilham Aliyev signing an order for the allocation of these funds to the Ministry of Energy.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the order emphasizes Azerbaijan’s dedication to providing aid based on humanitarian principles, a commitment reflected in its past assistance to various countries. This latest initiative aims to support the Ukrainian people amidst the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

The bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are grounded in friendship and partnership, as outlined in several key agreements, including the 2000 ‘Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership,’ the 2008 ‘Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership,’ and the 2022 ‘Joint Declaration of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine.’

The funds, sourced from the Reserve Fund of the President of Azerbaijan’s 2025 state budget, are designated for the Ministry of Energy to facilitate the purchase and delivery of Azerbaijani-produced electrical equipment to Ukraine. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for ensuring the financing of the specified amount, while the Cabinet of Ministers is tasked with addressing any arising issues related to the order.
