Azerbaijan and Georgia Hold Consular Consultations in Baku

Baku: Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Georgia convened in Baku for consular consultations aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation, as reported by Azeri-Press news agency. The meeting, held on February 16, 2026, brought together key representatives from both nations to discuss and facilitate consular collaboration.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Georgian side was represented by Giorgi Tabatadze, Director of the Department of International Law, Consular Affairs, and Diaspora Issues. The meeting also included participation from Faiq Quliyev, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Georgia, and Zurab Pataradze, Georgia's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, along with officials from Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office, Ministry of Justice, and State Migration Service.

The discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of consular cooperation, with particular attention to the signing of bilateral documents. Both parties emphasized the importance of protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens and providing necessary consular assistance. An agreement was reached to enhance collaborative efforts in these areas.

Key areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia were also addressed, including justice, migration, education, and social protection. The meeting concluded with the signing of a protocol by the heads of the two delegations, marking a commitment to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
