Baku: Azerbaijan and Kenya are engaging in discussions to expand their judicial and legal cooperation. On June 3, Farhad Abdullayev, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan, met with a Kenyan delegation led by Martha Karambu Koome, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Kenya.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Farhad Abdullayev highlighted the dynamic development of Azerbaijan-Kenya relations, emphasizing the importance of reciprocal visits in fostering bilateral ties. He noted the meeting between Presidents Ilham Aliyev and William Samoei Ruto in Baku, which took place on the sidelines of the 13th World Urban Forum in May, as a reflection of growing cooperation across various fields and mutual trust between the two countries.
During the meeting, Farhad Abdullayev provided detailed information about the activities of the Constitutional Court, its decision-making process, and several of its legal positions. Martha Koome, expressing gratitude for the warm reception, expressed her interest in judicial cooperation, particularly focusing on Azerbaijan's experience in the digitalization of court processes. She also briefed the participants on the work of the Supreme Court of Kenya and stressed the importance of joint initiatives to expand bilateral ties.
Martha Koome further noted her observations on the reconstruction efforts in the Garabagh region during her visit to Azerbaijan. She praised the ongoing large-scale restoration work, socio-economic development, and measures supporting the return of residents to the liberated territories. The meeting also covered discussions on enhancing judicial and legal cooperation and exchanging views on other matters of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kenya, Sultan Hajiyev. Following the meeting, the Kenyan delegation toured the Constitutional Court building.
