Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov recently engaged in discussions with a Zimbabwean delegation led by Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Francis Nzwidamilimo Mudenda. The meeting aimed at broadening political dialogue and fortifying interparliamentary ties between the two nations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the talks focused on enhancing collaboration across various sectors, such as education, tourism, mining, and agriculture. The public service delivery model, ASAN Khidmat, was also a key topic of interest. Bayramov emphasized Azerbaijan's dedication to fostering relationships with African countries, highlighting the role of reciprocal visits and parliamentary diplomacy in bolstering bilateral relations. Both sides affirmed the necessity of sustained cooperation and mutual support within international organizations.

The discussions also acknowledged Azerbaijan's leadership initiatives during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement and the positive impact of COP29 on advancing developing countries' interests. Bayramov offered congratulations to Zimbabwe for its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term, expressing Azerbaijan's willingness to collaborate closely with Zimbabwe. The importance of cooperation within the United Nations and on other multilateral platforms was stressed, alongside a shared commitment to uphold international law principles.

Additionally, the meeting included a review of cooperation within the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Bayramov provided the Zimbabwean delegation with insights into the regional situation, the post-conflict peace process, and Azerbaijan's reconstruction endeavors in its liberated territories.
