Azerbaijan Commits to Significant Emission Reduction by 2035

Baku: Azerbaijan has pledged to cut its emissions by 40% by the year 2035 compared to the levels recorded in 1990. This commitment was announced by Mukhtar Babayev, the Azerbaijani President's Representative on Climate Issues, during his address at the 5th Agribusiness Development Forum in Baku. The updated third Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) document outlines this ambitious target, as reported by APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Babayev highlighted that Azerbaijan is also in the process of developing a long-term Low-Carbon Development Strategy. He emphasized the country's dedication to global climate initiatives, stating that Azerbaijan has joined the Global Methane Pledge initiative and has expressed its support for worldwide efforts to reduce methane emissions by 2030. These commitments are set to be integrated into the country's national planning documents, showcasing Azerbaijan's proactive approach to addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
