Baku: The Azerbaijani government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have engaged in discussions regarding the nation's medium-term fiscal policy, macroeconomic outlook, and the agenda for the forthcoming Article IV consultations, APA-Economics reports. The meeting was a platform for exchanging views on economic developments in Azerbaijan and setting the groundwork for future collaborations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting was attended by First Deputy Minister of Finance Anar Karimov and an IMF delegation led by Anna Bordon, the Fund's Mission Chief for Azerbaijan. Discussions centered on fiscal policy, the medium-term economic outlook, and the priority areas for the IMF's future technical assistance to Azerbaijan.

Anar Karimov emphasized that the Azerbaijani government's main priorities are to expand budget financing opportunities through non-oil revenues, gradually reduce transfers from the State Oil Fund, and further strengthen fiscal sustainability. These priorities aim to ensure the long-term stability and resilience of Azerbaijan's economy.

Anna Bordon, the IMF Mission Chief for Azerbaijan, expressed the Fund's readiness to continue its cooperation with Azerbaijan. The focus will be on public financial management, fiscal policy, and strengthening institutional capacity, aligning with Azerbaijan's strategic economic objectives.
