Azerbaijan Engages with Trkiye and Ethiopia for COP Experience Exchange

Baku: Azerbaijan has initiated discussions with Trkiye and Ethiopia to share its experiences from the Conference of the Parties (COP), as stated by Mukhtar Babayev, the Representative of the Azerbaijani President on Climate Issues and COP29 President. Babayev highlighted the strategic collaborations planned with both countries to bolster climate initiatives and foster mutual learning.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Babayev revealed that Trkiye, as the host of COP31, will engage in meetings with Azerbaijan to exchange insights and experiences. Similarly, preliminary cooperation with Ethiopia, the subsequent host country, has already commenced. These efforts underscore Azerbaijan’s commitment to supporting upcoming COP hosts in their climate endeavors.

Babayev also pointed out the significance of Azerbaijan’s role in COP29, emphasizing the effective formation of their team and the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He regarded the successful hosting of the event as a milestone for the nation. Furthermore, Babayev mentioned the launch of the ‘World of Diplomacy’ journal, which aims to sustain Azerbaijan’s climate achievements and enhance public awareness. He stressed that developing a ‘green economy’ is a national priority for Azerbaijan and maintaining momentum in this area is crucial.
