Azerbaijan Highlights Digital Sovereignty at OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

The hague: The 33rd Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly continued in The Hague, Netherlands, where Gaya Mammadov, head of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis delegation, delivered a speech focusing on international law, peace, and cooperation. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Mammadov highlighted double standards and selective approaches as primary reasons for the unsatisfactory adherence to international law. He emphasized the importance of protecting state sovereignty and sovereign equality as supreme values. Mammadov also underscored the necessity of applying international law in the digital sphere, advocating for the protection of states' digital sovereignty amid the rapid advancement of information technologies and artificial intelligence. The Azerbaijani delegation head presented Azerbaijan's progressive policies that balance security, development, and human rights in new technologies. He informed the assembly about the activities of the Digital Development Council in Azerbaijan, esta blished under First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva. This council exemplifies an advanced practice in the OSCE region, promoting a comprehensive concept and inter-agency approach in the digital domain. Mammadov also stressed the importance of international cooperation in this field.
