Baku: The legal status of the Permanent Commission for the investigation of aviation accidents and incidents is being determined, as reported by APA. This development follows discussions in the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) Committee on Economic Policy, Industries and Enterprising regarding an amendment to the law “On Aviation.”
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this amendment aligns with the requirements of Appendix 13 to the Convention “On International Civil Aviation” dated December 7, 1944. Azerbaijan, as a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization, is obligated to establish an independent body for investigating aviation accidents and incidents, ensuring it is separate from any civil aviation or other bodies that could interfere with its activities. The proposed change aims to provide a clear legal definition for the permanent commission tasked with these investigations, ensuring its full independence in accordance with international standards.
