Baku: Retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan has experienced a 4% increase in the first seven months of the year. In January-July, consumers purchased goods valued at 35.1 billion manats through the retail trade network, with 19.3 billion manats allocated to food products, beverages, and tobacco, and 15.8 billion manats spent on non-food items.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the retail trade turnover increased by 3.8% in real terms compared to the same period last year. This increase includes a 1.4% rise in sales of food products, beverages, and tobacco, and a 6.7% increase in non-food product sales.
Data from the period indicates that 50.5% of consumer spending in the retail trade was on food products, 4.4% on beverages and tobacco, 12.7% on textiles, clothing, and footwear, 6.0% on automobile fuels, 4.7% on electrical goods and furniture, 2.5% on pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, 1.2% on computers, telecommunication equipment, and printed products, and 18.0% on other non-food items.
The non-state sector saw a 3.8% real-term increase in the value of goods sold, representing 99.8% of the total retail trade turnover. Compared to the same period in 2024, there was a 7.9% increase for enterprises, a 1.0% increase for individual entrepreneurs, and a 4.3% rise in markets and fairs during the January-July 2025 period.
On average, consumers spent 489.6 manats monthly in the retail trade network, comprising 268.7 manats on food products, beverages, and tobacco, and 220.9 manats on non-food products.
