Azerbaijan Sees 35% Increase in Air Passenger Transportation Revenues Amid Overall Decline

Baku: Azerbaijan’s revenues from air passenger transportation increased by nearly 35% in the first half of this year, despite an overall decline in total air transportation revenues.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the country generated 1,978,050.3 thousand manat from air cargo and passenger transportation from January to June, marking a 9.6% decrease compared to the same period in 2024, when revenues stood at 2,187,609.8 thousand manat.

In the first quarter of the year, revenues from air cargo transportation were recorded at 1,108,646 manat, a drop of 13.9% from the previous year. The bulk of these revenues, totaling 1,108,113.6 thousand manat, came from international cargo transportation, while domestic cargo transportation contributed 532.4 thousand manat. These figures represent declines of 13.9% and 23.4% respectively from the previous year.

During the reporting period, revenues from passenger transportation by air amounted to 869,404.3 manat, reflecting a 3.4% year-over-year decrease. International passenger transportation accounted for the majority of this revenue at 831,301.1 manat, a decline of 4.6%. In contrast, domestic passenger transportation saw a 34.5% increase, bringing in 38,103.3 manat.

Additionally, the volume of air cargo transportation in the first half of the year was 187.6 thousand tons, representing a 10.5% decrease. Meanwhile, air passenger transportation increased by 2.6%, reaching 1,861.1 thousand people.
